Like the title says, which working phone do you still have that you’ve really put through its paces with modding? Mine are hands down my two N900T Galaxy Note 3s. They’ve both had literally hundreds if not close to a thousand flashes through Odin and recovery. When I was part of a development team for this phone, we’d come up with sometimes multiple fixes and mods every day for at least a year.
Here’s some screenshots of one of them still going strong 7 years later running Android 10 and absolutely modded out the… you know what I was gonna say. Lol
Thanks man! Depending on how I have the transitions set in Developer options, this thing is either buttery smooth or lighting fast. The Lolz kernel is no joke on this phone, and I made some even further tweaks to it. The phone also thinks it has 8 GB of RAM because of a 5 GB swap partition on a Class 10 Ultra micro SD card. I also edited the mixer_path.xml files so it has stereo speakers.
Yeah I don’t like using desktop linux myself. 17 years ago I would run Linux and run windows under VMWare. But I may give it another go when I move to Korea and setup new PCs.
For just an easy and fast system you can’t go wrong with Kali, Ubuntu, Mint or Arch. I need to mess around with some VMWare just to do it. I’ve never used it before. You’d probably like my main PC build to play around with. It boots three separate internal drives. One boots Kali Linux, one boots Windows 10 Pro and the last boots MacOS 10.14 Mojave.
Funny stuff about the note 3, I have one that i bought used , sadly its att branded. I rooted and have dynamic kat with safe strap but cant go further due to att bootloader. My most modded and beloved phone has been my daily driver G900T, your phones little brother at the time. Using with havoc rom or Luis rom 10. Works with a 256 micro sd card, and I have over 5 batteries. I swear it works better than most carrier branded new phones, with it being debloated, and no Gapps.
MX linux and Mint mate are both user friendly and enjoyable. Big improvement over windows, but i keep around windows 7 to mess with phones and some other things. Also check out Linux Kodachi, Amazing tool set! HAVE FUN Y’ALL!!
Yeah that sucks about the locked bootloader on the N900A. And I also had a T-Mobile Galaxy S5 that I ported one of our ROMs to and had it running ShinTo kernel. I didn’t have that phone long at all. Too bad you don’t have the N900T because development is still crazy for it.
For my daily driver right now I’m using the OnePlus 6 running Android 11 Syberia OS. I have a OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition but I’m leaving it stock for now because I might get rid of it as well. Lol
