Note 4 ddi : mmc_read failed error

#1

My note 4 that I’ve had since one month after it originally came out started getting this error message (below). Any ideas would be appreciated. Huge had out shop long I don’t want to simply throw it out without trying to fix it.

I can’t go into recovery mode, and attempting to re-flash stock ROM causes the same error.

This most likely means your EMMC or internal storage went bad. BUT usually you can format it easily using TWRP recovery. Just install TWRP recovery using ODIN, then goto Wipe->Advanced wipe then select “Internal Storage” then Swipe to format internal storage. This will of course erase everything on your internal storage. But if it works, it will format your internal storage and you should be able to flash stock firmware or ROMs.

Thanks for the reply.

When I attempt to flash I get a message on odin saying:
There is no pit partition.

Phone error message says there is no pit binary.

You don’t need pit file. Just don’t use it. It should work without on Windows ODIN, unless you are using Mac or Linux.
