Kindle Fire HD Question

Hey, recently my friends and I have been getting back into clash of clans, and I wanted to get my progress back from my kindle fire HD. The old kindles pretty much suck, and I had to download clash of clans back when I played using an APK online. Thing is though the android version of my kindle is pretty old and when I tried to download the most recent one I got a “package couldn’t parsed” error and was unable to open the app. Any ideas on what I should do? I was thinking of rooting it but I’m not sure if my files would get deleted as well as my progress. I contacted the company that made the game to try and get my progress back, but they thought I was account phishing because I mentioned kindle fire HD, which doesn’t seem to show up (I think because it’s an APK I’m not entirely sure). Is there anyway I can “trick” the app into thinking my kindle fire is up to date? Because I’m pretty sure the updated versions aren’t anything crazy, nothing that needs a newer device. But yeah, any advice would be nice.

Have you Google searched for an earlier version of the APK that may be compatible? I’ve had to do that finding a few apps for my unlocked and rooted 2012 Google Nexus 7 4.4.4 (Slimrom)

Thing is when I try for an earlier more compatible version it says I need to update the app, which is frustrating.
