I just saw your youtube video in order to convert sd card as your adoptable storage in samsung s7.etc… so i used this same method in “j7 nxt” but when i convert the whole sd card into internal storage using “private” in cmd, now i can’t see my sd card in file manager neither in the settings. Nor has the storage added up in internal storage… Please help me. How to fix my sd card back to normal or is their a way to make sd card as Adoptable storage in “j7 nxt” . Hoping an early reply.
Sorry that guide is really old and would probably only work on older Android versions. Which Android version do you have? I will probably work on a new guide soon.
First of all thank you for an early reply. I totally messed up my disks… hahaha…
I just did what u did in the guide but it just earsed my sd card memory but then i fixed it all back.
I have Android Pie / Android 9.
Please bring a guide for this version soon as many people are facing this memory issue on some low memory devices such a J7nxt.
You might be able to do it from within the actual phone settings now since it’s newer Android. Try these steps:
- Open “Settings”
- Scroll down and go to the “Storage” section.
- Tap the name of your SD card.
- Tap the three vertical dots menu on the top right corner of the screen.
- Tap “Storage Settings”
- Choose “format as internal” option.
- On the next screen, you have the final chance to decide whether you want to change your mind. Tap “Erase & Format” if you want to format your SD card as internal storage.
- You will be notified if Android finds that your SD card is slow. Tap “OK” to continue.
- You can start the data migration process now or do it at a later stage.
- Tap “Done” to finish the storage adoption process for your SD card.
If everything worked like it’s supposed to, your SD card is now set for internal storage. Just don’t remove it from the phone now.
Thank you for your steps. But unfortunately samsung has removed this feature from setings.
As here you can see that, it only shows “Format”
option.
Kindly provide me with any other solution as i am facing low internal storage issue because of which I am not able to download anything into my internal storage.
Please help.
Alrighty, here’s another option. This is if you’re set up to use ADB. These commands will format and partition your SD card to be used as permanent internal storage.
I’m sure you know this, but on all the commands I list here, you do not type the quotations.
- Connect your phone to your computer.
- Open PowerShell or Command prompt on your computer in ADB.
- Type this command: “adb shell”
You might get a pop-up on your
phone to grant root privileges. - Type this command: “sm list-disks”
You’re going to need to write
down or remember the name of
your SD card. It’ll be called
something like “179,64” - Type this command: “sm partition disk: 179,64 private”
Remember that the name of your SD card will probably be different than 179,64 so just replace that in the command with the name of your SD card.
My friend, I have seen the video of using ABD shell Max Lee’s channel. But this feature didn’t work, even it caused a chaos as when i did this whole partition thing. I did exactly as you are saying bit then it doesn’t add the storage of my sd card into internal at all.
All I see then i that my internal is same as it was, but now i am not seeing my SD Card (it shows in the file manager, please insert the SD Card. )
So, that’s why i came to this form and Zedo Max told me that , it’s an old method doesn’t work on new android version like mine is android pie.
Please, provide any other method if there is any.
Or a video tutorial of using ABD shell in android 9 in any other samsung phone.
It will be a great help. Thank you.
The only other way to achieve what you’re trying to do that I know of is to be rooted and use the App2SD app. It allows all apps, app data and app cache to be moved to the external SD card. I honestly haven’t really messed around with SD cards like this since way back on Android 5. I will keep looking and see if I can find a solution for you though.
With the SD card not showing at all it sounds like you might need to reformat the SD card with a computer.
Yeah, seen this method too. But having problem in rooting the phone. I have tried many apps like kingoroot, one click root, kingroot etc. Even tried their Pc versions. But again failed in rooting.
Maybe you can help in this.
By the way thank you for this information.
And yeah bro, i have formatted it on that same day when i messed up.
So, as i think only this root method seems to be a reliable one. I just need your help in this one.
Ah man, using one click rooting methods is horrible and I would never recommend using them. Especially with a lot of Samsung phones being so easy to root because of Odin. Follow this guide and you should be able to get it rooted and have TWRP installed.
